Battlefield bad company servers down for good?

I was trying to get on Battlefield bad company, and everytime it says, failed to connect to EA online. I was literally playing this game a week ago. also when i go on BF 1943 it plays fine.Battlefield bad company servers down for good?
I was reading online that they will not be back online. Now that 2 is out they dont have enough people to keep it.
